Teeth-In-An-Hour™

Dental implants have become the standard of care treatment that we can offer patients. It is like “replacing the tooth with a new tooth created by human hands”. It started very conservatively by using a few implants to support a denture, transforming it into a fixed part of the oral cavity. As the technology progressed and developed, new options for replacement teeth in different areas of the oral cavity became available. We are able to use different ceramic materials in areas where esthetics is a concern.

Currently, one of the greatest advantages of dental implants is “immediate loading”, the ability to insert the crown/denture the same day that the implant is placed. It provides instant gratification to the patient, increasing quality of life. This benefit is possible because the surfaces of the implants have been modified to enhance osseointegration, which is the fixation of the implant to the bone.

The available 3D imaging technology has allowed the dentists to be exposed to procedures that are state of the art in the field. It enables the clinician to model the restoration and identify the ideal location to place the implant.

The main feature of this technology is the planning. It allows the clinician to plan the placement of implants considering not only the anatomical scene but also the esthetic positioning. When the doctor looks at the converted CT in the software program, it provides the possibility to visualize the bone in 3D view at all different positions, as if the clinician were holding it in his/her hands. It also allows flapless surgery and fabrication of a superstructure, temporary or final, before surgery. This makes it possible to perform the surgery right before the placement of the restoration without the need of sutures and a risk for inflammation under the flap. For patients it is a real benefit because there is less swelling, bruising and pain. The patient’s time spent in the dental chair is tremendously reduced because all the computer planning and fabrication of the teeth is done beforehand.
