Washington DC Implant Dentistry

An accident or some carelessness can damage/destroy your teeth. Cavities, gum diseases etc. take their toll on your teeth. Sometimes you may have loose fitting dentures. But with Washington DC implant dentistry, there is no need to worry.

Benefits of Washington DC implant dentistry:
1. Prevents shrinkage of the jawbones and gives a natural look to the teeth.
2. Strongly bonds to the living tissues.
3. Permanent replacement of the tooth making it look natural.
4. Restores proper chewing function.
5. Very reliable and excellent alternative for replacement.
6. Does not decay.
7. Protects the jawbone.

An implant dentist Washington DC carries out the implant process. The process starts by evaluating the quality and quantity of the bone.

Then the dental implant is inserted and allowed to heal for 4-6 months. Once the healing is over, the implant is opened and then the implant dentist Washington DC goes on to the restorative stage of the treatment. After that, a prosthetic restoration is attached to the osseointegrated dental implant.

There are 4 types of dental implants:
1. The Endosseous Implant: It is made of titanium and joins easily with the bone. It is kept in a hole bored in the bone and then left to join with the bone.

2. The Transosseous Implant: It is meant for people who fail to keep their lower dentures and have lower toothless ridges. The implant is placed from below the lower jawbone via 2 holes bored entirely through the bone. It is a rarer type of implant.

3. The Subperiosteal Implant: This implant is used when the quantity of bone is inadequate to support the Endosteal Implants. A metal frame is kept above the jaw piercing through the gum to grip the prosthesis. It does not fuse with the bone but simply lies over it.

4.The Ramusframe Implant: It is used when the lower jaw is toothless and is placed in the jaw bone in 3 different places: the left and right back side of the jaw close to wisdom teeth and the chin area. This type of transplant is also rare.
