Traditional Orthodontics

Facelift Without Surgery
The premature loss or excess wear of the teeth can have a dramatic effect on a persons appearance. The teeth are responsible for setting the distance between the lower jaw and the cranium.

Soft tissues (muscle, skin, etc.) covering the bones give the face a contour and profile. When there is a change in the distance between the teeth, the lower jaw tends to move upward and backward. This can cause the profile to weaken and give a face a sunken-in, wrinkled appearance. Through the use of orthodontics (braces) and prosthodontics (crowns) a proper jaw relationship can be reestablished and the profile can be restored. In many cases, this is a better solution than a face lift.

In this case, the patient complained of discomfort of the TMJ (jaw joint) and poor aesthetic.

Through the use of orthodontics, the profile was restored to its more youthful fullness and the drawn in appearance disappeared as well as the wrinkles around the lower face.

Small Under-Developed Teeth
Many people have excessively small anterior teeth particularly the ones next to the two top central teeth. For optimal aesthetics, the tooth roots must be centered with braces. This allows a porcelain jacket crown to be fabricated and gives a natural, properly proportioned appearance.
