| Washington, D.C, March 2004-Recognizing the
need for state-of-the art emergency dental services, the special
needs of chemotherapy patients and the need for other dental services,
George Washington University Hospital has granted full hospital
privileges to Dr. Lawrence Singer, D.M.D March 2004. Receiving hospital
privileges will enable Dr. Singer to provide oral medicine and oral
health services to hospital patients and his own ambulatory patients.
Dr. Lawrence Singer focuses on advanced and cosmetic dentistry,
comprehensive orthodontics, fixed and functional appliances, full
mouth rehabilitation, and aesthetic all-porcelain restorations.
Dr. Singer earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry at The School
of Dental Medicine and The Wharton School, from the University of
Pennsylvania, and his Bachelor of Science, Economics and Human Resource
Management from Vanderbilt University.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Singer is an Associate Clinical
Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, instructing Doctoral
Candidates in all aspects of restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
He also has prepared articles on oral healthcare economics for the
Swedish Government at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden. "Dr.
Singer
will work with plastic surgeons to provide emergency services as
well as provide services for any of his patients with special and
challenging dental needs," said Michael DeVallance, Business
Director.
For instance, Dr. Singer, a cancer survivor, employs innovative
treatments for patients with xerostoma undergoing such treatments
as chemotherapy. "Cancer treatment causes most patients to
experience a drop in saliva production," said Dr. Singer. "This
can cause moderate to severe decay and gum problems. Our techniques
address those issues. " Another benefit of hospital privileges
is that patients now have the option of being under full anesthesia
while undergoing their dental procedures, in the hospital's operating
room. This is a great
benefit both for dental "phobias" and for patients undergoing
complicated procedures. DC Smiles is located at 2111 Phelps Place
NW, in Dupont Circle, less that one mile from the hospital. Dr.
Singer's office offers a relaxed and casual experience complete
with "Disco and Tango" there certified pet therapy Jack
Russell's. Visit www.dcsmiles.com http://www.dcsmiles.com or more
